Who is it for?

This course is mainly for New Drivers wishing to acquire driving skills to be safe on the road and obtain a completion of a Driver Education Certificate approved by Nova Scotia Transportation Infrastructure and Renewal.

Options

Online Driver Training Course

Our online digital theory is accessible anytime from anywhere in Nova Scotia using a computer, tablet or cellular device. It provides 25 hours asynchronous online theory to be completed at your own pace. The course is offered by Cars-Learning (a third party) and approved by Transportation Renewal and infrastructure of Nova Scotia.

  • Students must complete all 20 modules and quizzes
  • You are allowed to take each quiz 3 times in order to pass
  • Technical support from Cars-Learning is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm EST
In-Class Driver Training Course

Our classroom session covers real life situation based on the today's Driver Manual driving case studies on different driving condition and environment using power point presentation. Our instructor will guide students with defensive driving strategies and personal driving experience on how to perceive risks before they happen and how to deal with passive drivers on the road, and how to minimize the impact if collision is eminent. We use group discussion and teamwork to create an enjoyable learning. Exercises and exams will be given during in- class session.

Courses are held on the weekend to make it more convenient for high-school students but classes might held during the week on march Break and summer.

Defensive Driving Course

Who is it for?

This course is for drivers with a class 5N or 5 license in order to:

  • Remove N from class 5N license
  • Comply with a government request to take this course
  • Remove demerit points from your record

Our online course is approved by Transportation Renewal and Infrastructure of Nova Scotia. It is 6 hours long, consists of 6 modules and a test, and can be completed at any time from anywhere in Nova Scotia at your own pace.

  • A digital file (PDF) of your certificate is emailed to you or you can choose to receive a hard-copy from NORTHSTAR.

Road Test Preparation

Who is it for?

This session is for those who have a Road Test already booked and need last-minute brush up on the most common rout of the test.

Overview

$130

90 minutes of one-on-one review and brush-up with a certified instructor on routes most commonly used for the test.

Includes

  • Pick-up service with in HRM (no drop-off service after the test)
  • Use of our vehicle for the test
  • Arrange for and check all the documents needed for the test
  • Practice on the equipment related knowledge of the car necessary for the test

We also offer service outside HRM (Truro, Kentville, Windsor and Bridgewater) at an additional cost. Please contact us for pricing and availability.
