Our preferred payment method is e-transfer (please use help@NorthstarDriverTraining.ca) but we also accept cash, debit and credit cards.

• Full Driver Education Course:
  • ONLINE: A $100.00 deposit is required prior to starting the online course.
  • IN-CLASS: 100.00 deposit is required to secure a seat. The remainder must be paid in-full before or on the first day of the in-car lesson.
• Private Lessons, Defensive Driving and Road Packages need to be paid in-full at registration.

The meeting place for the in-person driver course is at the Lions Club, 101 Old Beaverbank Rd., Lower Sackville, NS MAP

In-person sessions are held every two months, depending on demand.

• Standard Package: 25 hours in-person/ online theory+ 10 hours in-car lesson.
• Premium: Includes Standard Package + Road Test Package (Road Test Package is 60 minutes practice and use of a NORTHSTAR car for the road test).

The in-class session spans over 4 days, 6 hours and 15 minutes each day (from 9:00am to 3:30pm).

It depends on how long you want to spread out the in-car lessons after the in-class training has been completed. It could take anywhere from 1 to 12 months.

There is no charge if you want to switch to online before attending any class. However, once the class you signed up for starts and you wish to switch, a $50.00 fee will apply.

You may miss up to 4 days (the entire daily session) without penalty but you must attend future sessions.

There is no refund if you decide to withdraw after the session starts.

No, you do not need a license to attend the in-class or online theory sessions.

Yes. You can complete the in-class or online portion before you are eligible to take the written test.

After registering online and paying the deposit you will receive an email with a link to create a login account. This link will expire automatically after 30 days if an account is not created.

20 modules, 20 quizzes and a final exam are included in the online theory.

You have a maximum of 1 year to complete the online theory.

Yes. Before an account is created you can switch to the in-person course at no charge.

If you change your mind about taking the course online after an account has already been created please contact us as soon as possible to explore options.

The In-Car driver training is 10 hours long and offered in 2 hour blocks per session.

We offer pick-up and drop-off service anywhere within our service area, whether it is school, home or work.

If you must cancel or reschedule the In-Car Lesson, please give us as much notice as possible so can fill your spot. If a cancellation notice is not received 48 hours before your appointment a $75.00 cancellation fee/no-show fee will be applied to your account. In order to obtain a certificate, any outstanding balance must be paid in-full.

We provide this service 7 days a week from sunrise to sunset, depending on weather, availability of instructors and cars.

You must complete the In-Car Training within 6 months after completion of the theory or from the time you get your Learner's Permit.

Yes, all cars used for training are equipped with dual brakes and inspected every 6 months.

This course can be used to remove the N from license, remove some demerit points from your record or comply with a government request to take this course.

After registration and payment, you will receive a link to create an account for the defensive driving course portion.

It is 6 hours long and can be completed at your own pace from anywhere within Nova Scotia.

Your certificate can be sent by email (PDF) or can be picked up. If you wish to pick it up, please contact us and we will provide the address.

This package is 2 hours long. You will have 90 minutes of driving practice on routes most commonly used for the driving test, and use of our vehicle for this Road Test.

Pick-up service is included but you must arrange your own transportation from Access Nova Scotia (Map) after the test.

If you sign up for our Premium we require the receipt from Access Nova Scotia for the your Road Test. Please email a copy of the Road Test receipt to help@NorthstarDriverTraining.ca

If your Road Test is already booked we will do our best fit you into our schedule as soon as possible. Please note the date is dependent on the availability of our instructors.

You need to bring your road test receipt, driver's/learner's license, (translated documents if your license is not in English). Car related documents like registration, permit, insurance and inspection slip will be provided by NORTHSTAR.

Yes, we can offer our Road Test Package in Kentville, Windsor, Bridgewater and Truro. Pick-up and drop off service will be provided for those location.

You have to wait a minimum of 7 days before you can try again.

You can visit any one of the Access Nova Scotia locations or you can pay for the Road Test online.

• 1 hour: $75.00/hr
• 1.5 hours: $100.00
• 2 hours: $120.00
• 2 hour Road Test: $110.00

Payment must made in-full to secure a private lesson.

Refunds are only issued if a cancellation notice is received 48 hours prior to the lesson appointment.
